APA 7 title capitalization rules
Capitalize the first word, subtitle starts, major words, and words of four or more letters. Short articles, conjunctions, and prepositions usually stay lowercase inside the title. Short verbs and pronouns can still need capitals.

How to use this APA title case converter

APA title case or sentence case?
A paper title and its headings use title case. Titles of books or articles in reference entries usually use sentence case, while periodical names retain title case. Check which field you are formatting before converting.
For a sentence-style heading, open the sentence case converter. That tool formats text; it does not assemble an APA reference or check whether a journal name is correct.
What should I review?
Names, abbreviations, compounds, and words whose grammatical role changes need a final check. “Keep these spellings” deliberately overrides style rules for the words you enter. Review changes explains title-word edits; warnings identify cases that may need your judgment.
Questions about APA capitalization
Is every word capitalized?
No. In the examples above, “of” and “for” remain lowercase inside the title. Capitalize Each Word is a different format.
Is “for” capitalized at the end?
APA does not impose an automatic last-word capital on a minor word. See the “for” comparison across four styles before copying a rule from AP, Chicago, or MLA.
Does this make my whole paper APA-compliant?
No. Page layout, headings, references, and citations have additional requirements. This tool handles text capitalization only; your instructor or publisher’s requirements come first.
